Fublic forks Office,

Hongkong, 4th. August, 1903,

Honourable

1 have the honour to forward you two plans

marked 'A' and 'B', showing the proposed laying out of main thoroughfares in Kowloon.

2.

Plan 'A' is a general one of the Kowloon Peninsula showing proposed main roads as far North as Kowloon City on the tast and Cheung Sha kan on the test and plan B is an enlargement showing that portion of the general scheme indicated on 'A' which is about to be undertaken in the neighbourhood of the king's Fark.

3.

it will be seen from the latter that the scheme interferes with a number of existing lots which are tint- ed yellow. It will, I think, be possible to carry out readjust- ments in most cases, giving the areas tinted blue on the plan

taken

in exchange for those up or rendered useless by the roads, but there are several lots which it will be advantageous to resume.

4.

Those I have in view for resumption are Inland Lots Nos. 1012, 1013, 1014 and 1015 and a strip of In- land Lot 1087 which is further to the North.

5.

The lease of 1087 has not yet been issued and I have ascertained from the caners (The Hongkong Land invest -ment Company) that they are prepared to surrender the strip

required for the road for the sum of $2,500 equal to about $4

cents per square foot, the Crown Rent being modified in accor-

dance with the reduction in area of the lot. The area of the
